A closer look at one of my favorite things - English History.

Battle Abbey - Battle of Hastings

The Battle of Hasting was fought on October 14, 1066, in which the Norman invaders, led by Duke William of Normandy, defeated the English army, led by King Harold II.  King Harold II was killed in the battle along with 5,000 other Englishmen and close to 3,000 Norman soldiers.  The famous Bayeux Tapestry decipits the battle and it's aftermath and can still be seen today in a museum in France.  The Normans soon laid claim to the English crown and Duke William of Normandy was crowned King of England on December Day in 1066.
